Paper People

Blink!
And it's Monday again - what happened to the weekend?

After all the CAS Christmas cards I made, I am still struggling to use my DPs.
I know it sounds bonkers, but they just don't look right to me anymore??!!
I had to fight the urge to take this one off.

The sketch is from Seize the Birthday. This is a great new challenge blog with a fun twist - the sketch is used one week for girly cards and one week for masculine. As you can see, this week it's girly ;-)

No place like home

My daughter is moving house next weekend - Again!
I think she only does it for the house warming party and presents ;-)
I have a cute gift for her and this card will match it perfectly.

I followed the simple sketch at LIM,
using a pretty rose DP to go behind my letters. It was kind of tricky keeping those letter dies straight.

The house was made with a small rectangle die and then I scattered on some crystal gems.

Challenges.
Less Is More - Sketch
Totally Gorjuss - Flowers(hope the flowers on the DP is enough to qualify)

  • Memory Box Parker Alphabet Dies
  • Rose DP (sorry, not sure what make it is)

I Heart Flowers

Have you started thinking of Valentine's Day yet?
For the last few nights I have been sewing little, felt hearts for a cute project for my girls.
So I had hearts on the brain when I made this card :-)

I used a Molly Blooms stamp, masking off the flowers and replacing them with little, heart buttons.
The 'I love you' is cut from a rub-on love quote. I have a stack of these, that I've never really known what to do with. It just dawned on me that I don't have to use the whole quote, I can just cut out the words I want!! Duh!

Challenges
City Crafter - Forever Mine - (Use Hearts)
Papercraft Star - Buttons
C.R.A.F.T. -  Valentine's Day or Love
Papertake -  Tie Up Your Loose Ends (Use A Bow)

Hot Diggity

Some cards just DO NOT want to get made, do they?
This was one of those. It conspired against me at every turn.
2 coloured images ended up in the bin, so I tried paper-piecing.
After cutting and sticking all the little pieces, I managed to smudge glue all over it. Grrrrr.
Here's my fourth attempt - still not too happy with the colouring,
but I added some glitter to distract you from it. He he!

I  used Jen's sketch from  Sketch Saturday, replacing the stars with frogs (as you do!).
You can imagine how much I was holding my breath when I stamped the 'Hoppy Birthday'.

Snow Day

Hello everyone... are you having fun in the snow?
Up here in Co Durham we've had more than our fair share.
Here's a few pictures for you - I'll be back with a card later :-)

No sign of a gritter down our cul-de-sac.

Hubby and the neighbours had to dig out an ambulance!!

The view down the road

Look at all those mounds of snow from clearing drives and digging cars out.
Hubby left me his heep and took my 4 x 4 this morning!

The back garden.
I was going to get a view looking back to the house - until I realised the snow came over the top of my wellies :-)

The weather forecast is warning of more snow today :-)
Shame - I will have to stay indoors and craft!

Blue Hawaii

The snow is still coming down here in Co Durham -
so it's time to get snuggled up, in front of the fire,
with a mug of hot chocolate and my box set of Grey's Anatomy.
But first, here's my latest card...

I wanted a party girl for this card and I have been trying to get my hands on some Stamping Bella, Uptown Girls  but they are proving hard to get hold of in the UK - so I was happy when I came across this stamp, in my stash, that had been a freebie in a magazine. I think it's from Papermania.
I coloured her with Copics and some stickles glitter, cut her out and popped her up on foam pads. I've called her 'blue hawaii' today, because of the cocktail she's holding.
The chevron paper is a digi from Pink Petticoat.

I used a spellbinders nested pennants die for the top corner, simply attached with staples and the 'for you' stamp is from Wild Rose Studios.

Challenges
CAS-ual Fridays - Long and Short
Stampin' for the Weekend - Something Girlie
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything Goes
Sweet 'n' Sassy Digi - Anything Goes
Divas by Design - Make it Girlie (2nd entry)

Life is better with red hair!

I am obsessed with red hair at the moment.
I can't remember what my original hair colour is - but right now it's hypnotic red.
It says so on the box! :-)

So, for my new Monica stamp, I reached for my red Copics.

Of course I had to give her green eyes.
I remember, in the 80s, I had Farrah Fawcett hair, with fancy headbands and I actually wore green contacts.
Oh, how gorgeous we all looked back then.   He he ;-)

I mounted my image on black card, with a few red gems.
There wasn't really a way of adding a sentiment that wouldn't detract from the stamp, so that's going on the inside.

Cool Dude

Hooray - it's the weekend!
Hope you're all having a good one.
I am sat in the warm, waiting for the snow to arrive.
Mr Kiss is clutching the bright, red sledge that our dd bought him for Christmas - so an afternoon in casualty is on the cards!!!

For this card I had fun playing on my computer.
The background gingham is a digi paper from Pink Petticoat and I know it's hard to make out, but I digitally distressed it.
Then I added a die cut fence (Cheery Lynn) and my image, popped up on foam pads.

The cute stamp is a digi from Whimsie Doodles (Hoodie Jayson).
His Hoodie is filled with apple digi paper from Pink Petticoat and the rest is coloured with Copics.
The sentiment stamps are from Whimsy Stamps

Almost human!

Here I am.... back with a card for my Dad's birthday.

Ha ha! this is so what my Dad looks like :-)
I'm not sure what make the stamp is - it was on a complete sheet of other stamps that I have had forEVA and never used.

I kept the card simple - basically because I now get a mental block when trying to match up DPs!
The sentiment was made on my comp and my 'Dad' is coloured with Copics, with a touch of glossy accents on his glasses.

Challenges.
Divas By Design - Anything Goes
Dream Valley - Anything Goes
Creative Creations - Anyting Goes. This is a new bi-weekly blog with their very first challenge, so pop on over there and check them out.

Just hanging around!

Drama!!   Kids love to scare you, don't they?
This is a picture I was sent the other day!!

Annabel's b/f Andy, was getting a lift home from work, when the car he was in crashed into a tree and ended up on it's roof.
Completely disorientated and with people shouting at him to get out before it set on fire, Andy undid his seat belt and crashed onto his head. No damage there then!!!
My other dd Maria works at the hospital and she made sure he was checked out - luckily he got away with bad whip lash.

Oh and then Maria calls me this morning and says she can't get into work. Police are on the hospital doors because someone with hunting knives is running around inside, threatening to stab people!!
"Just another day at the office" says Maria.

Birthday Balloon

I am a sad bunny :-(
The tree came down this morning.
If it were up to me, it would stay up all year :-)
As for my decorations, I know they should come down on Twelfth Night, but it's a family traditon that we leave them up an extra day - for my Dad's birthday on the 7th.
When do you take yours down?

Despite my mojo doing a runner, I have managed to put together a simple card.
This is for my great niece, Amelia.

I used the  Pure Innnocence balloon girl, coloured with Copics and popped up on foam pads.
Not much else to say really - a few buttons, a sentiment, a pretty ribbon and Bob's your uncle!

Challenges.
Totally Gorjuss - Anything Goes with Ribbon

Heaven Sent

Happy New Year everyone.
Hope you've all had a lovely time over the holidays.
Lots of eating, drinking and merriment went on here and I have the increased waistband to prove it!

Here's my first card of 2013, for someone who is expecting her first baby in a week's time.

This is my 'go to' design for baby cards - I think it's so cute and very simple to put together.
After attaching my DP to a card blank, I use a circle nestie to cut the legs and neck, and a craft knife to cut the sides.
The edges are then trimmed with pieces from a scalloped circle die and my lace doily punch.
Finally I add some pearls for buttons and a little satin bow.

Challenges.
CASology - New
Papertake - Anything Goes
Crafty Sentiments - New
Totally Gorjuss - New
