Dream in Blue

Ok you guys, you can all have a laugh at me.
I tried three times to emboss this chandelier,
before I discovered that I'm using the wrong ink.
I need slow drying pigment ink.
Duh! I told you I was new to this inky stuff.

I played along at Seize the Sketch
The hardest part of this whole card was the little banner.
The white pieces were die cut, but I had to cut the blue card freehand.
Top of my list is a new, all singing, all dancing banner die.

As you can see below, the chandelier and little bird
are die cut and popped up on foam pads.

If anyone can recommend a cheap set of inks that work
for embossing, that would be great.

Gorgeous elegant card Caroline. Love the colour.
Pigment inks or specific embossing inks are best for heat embossing - sometimes it is better to pay a little extra for a quality ink pad rather than a cheaper version - you usually get a better finish :o)
Brilliance inks come in small dewdrop sizes of a full sized pad - the small ones are about £1.60 and the full sized ones are about £4.50ish!!!
Hope this helps.

Love this! And yeah, banners without the dies can be time-consuming.

For a good all-around embossing ink, get a Versamark pad. It's clear and designed for embossing. You can use colored embossing powders with it, or clear. You can also stamp onto colored card stock with it for a tone-on-tone look.

Even if you eventually buy some pigment inks, everyone should have a Versamark pad in their collection.

Love your unique take on the sketch! That chandelier is fabulous. for what it is worth, the banner was the hardest part for me, too! Not sure why as I think they are way cute.

I gave up on embossing a long time ago. So I think it is great you are trying it out and learning too! I love the chandelier!
