British Summer Vibes

Nothing says British summer like the sound of an ice-cream van.
What are you having -   a Screwball, a Fab or a Rocket?

I'm not too happy with the colours for this card.
I wanted it to be nice and bright, so I used my Ecoline brush pens and they didn't work well on that cardstock. Going over areas made the colour darker than I wanted and the paper started to pill.
Next time I'll try heavier cardstock or watercolour paper.

brings a lot to the card.

Blow Out All The Candles

Hello.  This was a tricky card for me. I know it looks simple, but if I'm not using stamps with animals, or people, then I struggle a bit. To help me out I used the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.

The candles are all die-cuts, stuck together (I used some 'stick it' sheets to make this easier) and then adhered to a card panel, where I had already stamped the centre sentiment.  I just snipped off the excess bit of candle.

I added the scallop piece from a frame die cut, and some glossy accents on those flames.

Gnome For The Holidays

Ok, hands up if you have no idea what you're doing with a white, gel pen.
Somewhere, in a parallel universe, there must be a white, gel pen diploma course. I need that course!

I was hoping, when I bought this fall gnome set, that I would be able to use them for Christmas cards. And here they are. I stamped some extra gnomes, so that I could cut out their hands and stick them over what they are carrying.

I Will Walrus Love You

Hello.
Here's another card using my new, walrus set. This cute walrus is having a little snooze on the rocks.

For the background I used my Ecoline Brush Pens. I LOVE these pens - the colours are really vibrant and, if you're careful, you can blend them on ordinary cardstock, without using water.
I die cut the heart into a panel and placed that on top.
The walrus on the rocks,  was stamped onto dark grey card then die cut. Then I stamped it again onto light grey card, cut out the walrus, and popped it over the top with foam pads.

Ice Lolly Heaven

Hello.
Yikes - it's hot! I put the thermometer in my craft room yesterday (my conservatory) and it went off the charts at  40C+  That's bloody hot for Yorkshire :o)
Needless to say, I decamped to a cooler room to make this card.

I  can't get the hang of water colouring, but I have some gorgeous, vibrant, watercolour, ecoline brush pens and I really wanted to use them. I saw this easy technique to try and it worked a treat.
I used the brush pens straight onto my stamp, spritzed it with water and stamped. Simple!

On my first attempt some of the colours got a little muddy, so I kept a white strip between them and that worked better. If you wanted you could easily fill that white area by using a small brush, but I liked it that way.

If you follow me on Instagram pop over and check out my reel. It's the first proper, card making video I've done. Not perfect, but it was kind of fun. And I have a new respect for those card makers that video their process :-)

Colour all the Flowers

Hello.
It's hard to find time to craft right now, so today I wanted a reasonably quick make, but I also fancied a bit of colouring. This cover plate die was perfect.

I die-cut the cover plate, popped out all the leaf pieces, and attached it to my card blank. Then I coloured the leaves in, and inserted them back into their spaces. I die-cut a second cover plate, coloured the blooms and popped them up with foam tape. Then I added a little bling, some white pen, and a birthday sentiment.     (Check out my Instagram reel for a quick video).

I used my ecoline brush pens for this, because they give a wonderful, vibrant colour. I can't wait to try this with the reds!

Happy Candle Blowing Day

Hello.
It's been a busy week here,  and when time in my craft room is limited,  I like to jump start my creativity with a good sketch - which means a quick visit to Freshly Made Sketches.

When I saw this week's sketch, I instantly thought of candles, which meant rotating the sketch 90 degrees. The candles were die-cut, coloured with my new Ecoline pens, with a touch of glitter on the flames,  and popped up with foam tape.
I tried to be artsy with the background (and I really wanted to play with those new pens) so I drew some quick stripes. It's a bit rough - I didn't really think it through - but hey, that's handmade for you :o)
