Plays Well With Fabric

I have something a little different to show you today.
My blogging buddy Lee has inspired me with her 'work in progress' to show you mine.
Now, be nice - this is my first EVA quilt!

Those eagle-eyed amongst you may notice that it's not actually a quilt yet.
That's just a teenie part of the process that I have yet to learn how to do :-)
Watch this space!

I started with the Moda Layer Cake above ( 40 x 10" Squares) and after cutting and sewing I ended up with 35 blocks.
Some blocks were just plain and others were made up of 3 strips.

These were then stitched into the rows you see below.
Can you spot my deliberate mistakes??
(The last block on row 3 should be horizontal and the very last 2 blocks should be swtiched with each other).
Of course, I never spotted this until all the rows were sewn together!

Now I have sewn the rows together and I am researching the 'quilting' process.
I'd like to do this on my sewing machine, but it seems that I need a special foot attachment for that, and finances won't stretch to it - so if you know any 'hand quilting for beginners' web sites, point me in the right direction ;-)

Hiya hun.Thanks for yer email.

I have just put the recipe on me blog for you.

This is so very pretty,as it's going to be a quilt i personally don't think it matters which way the blocks are lol,of course those very experienced n clever quilters may disagree.

I'm sure you will get some good advice from an expereinced quilter about the hand quilting on here.Going to email you later about that.Have a good Sunday hunni.Huggles.xx

Looks wonderful so far, I wasn't aware that you needed a special foot attachment for quilting, I am pretty sure that lots of people battle on with their usual foot.

There are lots of fabulous tutorials on Utube to sit and watch from the basic to the more advanced, just don't get stuck watching them and never creating like me lol

Cant wait to see the finished item

Caroline, this is going to be beautiful. I am still trying to figure out what you are referring to. It looks gorgeous to me. The colors are so soft, you will just want to cuddle up with it. Hugs, Linda

This is gorgeous, and for a first EVA, I'm very impressed. I don't think anyone but you would notice that there were any errors. As for the hand quilting, just be sure you've got a good thimble and one of those PVC quilt racks. I don't know why you can't quilt it on the sewing machine, just using a heavier needle.

Mistakes...pah! It looks wonderful to me. I think it must have taken so much work to get to this point & you should be very proud of it. Good luck with the next stage! x
