Holy Shit!

My BFF is 50

2 things -
How do you stop your embossing powder from leaving
little, black, speckles everywhere?
And can anyone recommend a good, plain, alphabet stamp set?
This is the only one I have, and it's not quite right, is it?

Hi Caroline! I love this card and the alphabet you used looks good to me. I do veer towards die cuts for alphabets, mostly as I wreck stamping in a line :)

But, what you do need is an 'embossing buddy' to swipe over your card before doing any stamping/embossing. It leaves a fine powdery 'skin' which stops the static making stray bits of EP lurk - ask me how I know! Stampin'up sell them or look online. Some folk will just use a little bit of talc, whisked over with a soft brush - Barbara Gray uses that trick.

Anyhow, I like your card and am not even gonna look for any speckles :)!

So great how you made your funny sentiment so elegant with that font! Don't see any stray specks but embossing buddy or dryer sheet can work if you swipe your area before embossing. Doesn't always end up perfectly clean for me though even with those....Thanks for joining us at CASology this week.

Holy hilarious!!! Caroline, I gave up on black embossing powder completely - through it right into the garbage!! I now stamp first in VersaMark, then Versafine black Onyx, [mind this order, or you'll ruin your VersaMark pad for clean use] and use fine clear embossing powder.
As far as the alphas? I just got the fab one from Concord & 9th!!! LOve it!

Caroline, this is brilliant and I totally cracked up when I saw it!! I actually think the alphabet works on this - the contrast between the naughty word and the flowery letters is perfect. :) As for the black embossing powder, I always have a hard time with it. If I do use it I give the paper a really good scrub with one of those embossing buddies and then spend a lot of time wiping excess power away with a smile paintbrush before I heat set it. More often though I will use black in (like VersaFine Onyx Black) and use clear embossing powder which gives you a black line with no stray black powder!

Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
